80. What special traditions or holiday celebrations does your family observe?

I don’t know when the last time we even put a Christmas tree up at our house. Lol

But I do know that weddings are a big deal and I feel like we always celebrate for days. I don’t know if it’s a Liberian thing or my family likes to do the most but whatever it is, I’m not mad.

fullsizerender2 years ago my cousin got married in North Carolina, and soo much family came out. I
hadn’t seen most of the family since the last wedding I went to. The wedding was like the whole weekend, I’m assuming because people have to travel since we’re all spread out it’s easier to get everything done at one blow.

Day 1 was like the wedding shower and bachelor/bachelorette parties, if I’m not mistaken. Day 2 was the Wedding, the reception which always includes a grand march (Kind of like a Liberian conga line), and the after party. Then on Day 3 was the cookout, which is just another day to drink, party, eat and enjoy family. I don’t remember a wedding not being this long honestly. When I was a kid, I hated weddings because they were forever long.

This time, I was having so much fun I didn’t want to leave.

Next up: My cousin’s wedding in Chicago!
